Our Failing Healthcare system

Everyone has heard all the debate over healthcare reform. Every one agrees there needs to be some change, but agreeing on what those changes need to be is the big debate. Healthcare is essential to our well being so a decision must come to be.

Everyone thinks that our health care system is in need of change. What kind of change is the question. Many people believe in the national health insurance that many other countries have in place, while others disagree in that option. What we all know is there must be change in some way.

Americans spend more money on healthcare then any other country. Why are we spending so much money and not getting the healthcare we need. The expenses we incur are often way too much to handle for most American's.

If our health system was working then our mortality rates would tell a different story. American's have some of the lowest mortality rates. Health insurance premiums are so expensive that we just can not afford health insurance, leaving many uninsured.

And the American's that do have insurance often can not afford adequate coverage so they still face high medical expenses. Public and private insurance companies have failed to meet the needs of Americans. Ever 50th American can not get healthcare for one reason or another.

A national health insurance has been considered. But too many people oppose. They believe there is a need for change, but do not agree that this is the answer. Until we can come up with a good solution that we can agree on for the most part it should not happen.

Most of the medical community thinks that a national health insurance would change the patient and physician relationship, making it less personal. Others still believe that this would not be the case at all. They think it would even out.

Until this is figured out we must not forget how important health insurance is for our families. We must buy the best plan we can afford. A major medical plan is better then nothing. If you go without nothing you could face a major financial crisis.
